Who knew a man could get pregnant, Well sure, but after all these years? How could you know you were expectin? Was it the coffee or the tears? Your partners calling doctors While youre clockin into work Hookin up that VPN, doublecheck you’re private browsin who knows the trouble they could find you in lookin up the pills they’re dealin And they’ve sent bombs to doctors But we’re not givin in If they’re pressing the world flat, then we’ll put people at the edge Set up something at the margins, we will catch you, my friend We know life aint the only choice sometimes And they’re pushin out the tenants The ceiling aint been fixed in years Is this a joke, some sort of penance Prayers to a lord that never hears? And you’re lookin up some lawyers Taking extra shifts at work And knockin on your neighbor’s door Wondering if they’re agreein Get a few replies, and then some more Settin up that union meetin And this just might go and make things worse But it sure beats givin in If they’re lockin the world out, we’ll go and get the smith Redefine what is shelter, find a place to live There is cold and there is hunger, but there is also fire To make it through the winter, make it through the year We know that it may not seem worth it, but damn we need you here And if there’s something in this moment, that makes you feel alive Make it fit in your coat pocket, and survive Just make it through the winter Make it through the year

VERSE There’s a pandemic, it is killing us, but it’s not the only one There is another that sees us starving, and then reaches for its gun And makes us think we should be grateful and makes sure the news is spun Uses words like “essential,” then sacrifices old and young We are dying in the thousands, and they say we should be proud to get sick for the economy, while we take what we’re allowed They continue to make billions, and say the quiet parts out loud They can get away with murder, so they welcome in the crowds CHORUS This virus aint the last one, of this we can be sure And climate change aint creepin, it is comin like a storm It feels like all is hopeless, like there aint no end in sight So stay home. Stay alive. And organize VERSE Because there’s power in our numbers and in solidarity There is hope in workers demanding to repurpose factories There is truth in all the jobs we’re realizing we don’t need They cannot lie enough to hide behind the things that we have seen Like communities stepping up with help to feed their neighbors Seen employees start to strike, and the value in their labor And for every skyline and star, that we will always savor There is another clue, that seems to prove, we are our only saviors CHORUS This virus aint the last one, of this we can be sure And climate change aint creepin, it is comin like a storm So when it feels like all is hopeless, like there aint no end in sight Stay home. Stay alive. And organize END VERSE We’re feeling broken, feeling trapped, but we’ve felt this way before We can feel it in our histories, we can know it in our wars So until we take this land and give it back to the ones who came before We will sing in love and anger, and we will live for something more

Well it started one morning in Chicago On a Saturday, cold, and so blue From a long week, so busy and bitter Just one thing on my mind to do So I got out of bed and drank water Grabbed a vitamin pill and a look at the mirror, and then to my razor Put the guard on, and a long breath I took Well I’ve been keepin a beard for awhile now and trimmin it down has gone well Feelin confident, I even shaved my head once Now the second time, is this story I tell A lesson, from a beginner, I will gift you While your beard and your head aint that large Before you take chunks out your hairdo Make sure that your razor is charged Now I wish I could say it looked punk rock I would call it a mullet, but it aint It’s like if Pollock had my head as his canvas And these patches of hair were his paint Well it started one morning in Chicago On a Saturday, cold, and so blue From a long week, so busy and bitter Just one thing on my mind to do

Ghost Tour 03:22
Signed up for a ghost tour when I was 18; a free trip sponsored by my dormitory; In the heart of Chicago, they’d tell us stories; drivin around, getting spooky I just had mono, I was probably depressed; walked to the bus, but who would’ve guessed Went by myself, but I got lucky, it was my first time ever hangin with Rigby Left from DeKalb, straight to Chicago, the first place we went was Rock n Roll McDonalds Not like it’s haunted, it just had burgers, the actual tour had a lot of murders The massacre on St. Valentine’s day, Dillinger, and other mobsters’ fates Resurrection Mary and a lot of fire, looking for ghosts in the Chicago river The tour guide said we have a haunted Chicago cuz the city’s so close to a body of water The lake is a conduit of all of the energy, so many ghosts, so many stories We stopped at the Hull house, peaked in the entry, he told us the story of the devil baby Got a feeling in my neck that was kinda funny, then he asked if anybody had that very same feeling --- So many ghosts so many stories --- Some years later we were back in Chicago, stayin at Rigby’s sibling’s place in Humboldt wasnt a house, was a big ass loft though, the spot of some very kick ass diy shows Was late at night we were walkin home, after riot fest, we were all alone When across the street not very far, an old woman stepped out of a classic car It looked cool as hell, the condition was fine, she was walkin with a swagger and dressed to the nines took a look at us, maybe kinda scoffed, then she asked if we were headed to the loft and before we knew it, she was tellin us stories, from the neighborhood in all its glory before it was part of the punk and art scene, that loft was just like of the places she partied a girl about town and all of the bars, even partied with Sinatra and some other stars and just like that she was on her way, and we were never to forget what happened that day The very next morning headin down the block, we passed by the spot where we had talked We could have swore it was the very same, a classic car burned down to the frame --- So many ghosts so many stories ---

I sure missed headin home from church on a cold and quiet night, listenin to the radio and seein all the lights Of the town that we grew up in, the place that made me me, goin past the schools, the parks, all those memories My favorite part of Christmas eve, I didn’t even know, in the past I maybe could have spent less of it in my phone we’d get back home, settle in, find a movie on TV, a wonderful life, spendin time with the Griswolds or Ralphie We’re makin plans now, to make it safe. I’m comin home, but it wont be the same Chorus How i wish we could be sittin warm and near that big old tree With those ornaments, photographs of our family But this little one is perfect here, fits in like a collage This picture of our christmas in the garage Verse Sure it’s not ideal but it’s the best that we could do, sitting next to the scooter that we bought from Uncle Lou I know behind the mask it’s hard to tell if I’m happy, but right here on this folding chair, there’s no place I’d rather be I’m feelin grateful, but feelin blue. It won’t be easy, but we’ll make it through Chorus But I wish we could sittin be warm and near that big old tree With those ornaments, photographs of our family But this little one is perfect here, fits in like a collage This picture of our christmas in the garage Maybe somethin like a manger on that holy night And I dont see no kings here, but I'd say we're being wise This year felt like a desert, and today like a mirage Celebrating christmas in the garage Yeah havin us a christmas in the garage

Another day, doomscrolling in our beds. Doesn’t feel like there’s another way, for these full and weary heads. We cannot run away so we dive nose down instead Another something thousand dead What can we say, when it’s already been said? From the very day, they told us it would spread, we saw its face, but again we were misled Another something thousand dead We cannot fake, these feelings in our mind. There’s a time and place, but it all gets pushed aside. So another day, if we stop we’re left behind Another something thousand died And in LA, hospitals are packed inside. Morticians frayed, and can’t keep up in time Another place majority nonwhite A day when something thousand died What does it mean, that we let it get this way? Where do we keep, the fear, the guilt, the shame? There was a fee, when we hid away the pain, another something thousand paid So let us mourn, let us let the hurt run deep. And stay indoors, let us rest and let us weep Weather this storm, but let us to a promise keep We’ll let another thousand sleep

about

Songs written in 2020 and early 2021.

Most of these come from a month where Danny Cozzi and I challenged each other to write a song a week. Ghost Tour was started in 2017 but was finished as a part of that too. You can find his music project, All The Wine, here - allthewine.bandcamp.com

Writing these songs and recording them helped me alot during these times, I hope they can be helpful to others as well.

This release is an NFT, aka Not Fuckin Trademarked lol. Do whatever you want with them.

Love, gratitude, and solidarity
